Arvold Casting is searching for actors for an exciting museum project.

Cortina Productions is working with Jamestown Settlement history museum to produce an interactive multimedia experience related to the story of Jamestown. This experience will play an important role in allowing visitors to discover the complete story and explore multiple perspectives of cultures at Jamestown during the 17th century.

Each role shoots for one (1) day
Shoot Location:  Northern Virginia area
Rate:  $400 per day (plus 20% if agent)
Usage:  Full Buyout
Travel/Lodging:  Provided if needed
Audition: Via self tape, or in person in Charlottesville, VA on May 4th, 5th & 6th

Note that the time period is circa the 17th century, so an appropriate period look is required for all roles.  Auditions to be in natural voice, with little to no accent.

SEEKING:

[POWHATAN MOTHER] Late 20s, Native American, Female.  Part of the Powhatan tribe living in Virginia before any English settlers arrive, this mother teaches her young daughter how to make pottery.  Long hair is desirable.

[POWHATAN DAUGHTER AS CHILD] Age 8 – 12, Native American, Female. Part of the Powhatan tribe living in Virginia before any English settlers arrive, this daughter learns from her mother how to make pottery.  Long hair is desirable.

[POWHATAN DAUGHTER AS ADULT] Mid 20s, Native American, Female.  Now an adult in the 1620s, the daughter has grown up near the Jamestown colony and has become familiar with English ways.  Long hair is desirable.

[POWHATAN DESCENDANT WOMAN] 60s – 70s, Native American, Female. A Powhatan descendant living near the Jamestown colony in the 1680s, she decides with her adult son what items to trade with the settlers.  Long hair is desirable.

[POWHATAN DESCENDANT MAN] 40s, Native American, Male. A Powhatan descendant and hunter living near the Jamestown colony in the 1680s, he decides with his mother what items they have which would be best to trade. He is familiar with the English way of life.  Long hair or shaved head is desirable.  Actor must be willing to have little to no facial hair.

[ANGOLAN FATHER] Late 20s, African American, Male.  A father living in West Central Africa before the year 1607 teaches his young son an important skill.  Hair to be close cropped or shaved.

[ANGOLAN MAN] Mid 20s, African American, Male. In the 1620’s, having been brought to the colony as a child from West Central Africa, this man has grown up in the Jamestown settlement.  Actor must be comfortable portraying an enslaved person.  Hair to be close cropped or shaved.

[ANGOLAN BOY] Age 9 – 12, African American, Male.  A boy who lives in West Central Africa before the year 1607.  He listens to his parent and mimics actions in order to best learn.  Hair to be close cropped or shaved.

[ENSLAVED AFRICAN BOY] Age 9 – 12, African American, Male.  A boy with roots in West Central Africa who lives at the Jamestown settlement in the 1680s.  He listens to his parent and mimics actions in order to best learn.  Actor must be comfortable portraying an enslaved person. Hair to be close cropped or shaved.

[ENSLAVED AFRICAN WOMAN] Late 20s, African American, Female.  A woman whose ancestors came from West Central Africa, forced to serve in the Jamestown colony in the 1680s.  This mother teaches her young son the art of basket weaving.  Short to mid-length hair is desirable.  Actor must be comfortable portraying an enslaved person.

[ENSLAVED AFRICAN MAN] Age 27 – 30, African American, Male. An enslaved man from West Africa, forced to serve in the Jamestown colony in the 1680s.  He tries to communicate with others using his native language, but is not understood.  This role includes short phrases of Igbo, which is a dialect of southeastern Nigeria, to be learned phonetically (no knowledge of the dialect is required).  Actor must be comfortable portraying an enslaved person. Hair to be close cropped or shaved.

[ENGLISH FATHER] Late 30s, Caucasian, Male. Poor and desperate, this father remains in England while sending his son to the Jamestown colony as an indentured servant.

[ENGLISH SON AS CHILD] Age 11 – 13, Caucasian, Male.  A boy who survives a brutal sea crossing and becomes an indentured servant in the early days of the Jamestown colony.

[ENGLISH SON AS ADULT] Mid 20s, Caucasian, Male. Now an adult in the 1620s, the son grew up in the Jamestown colony as an indentured servant.

[ENGLISH GENTRY] 20s, Caucasian, Male.  While on the ship, this landowner of lesser nobility relates the crowded and unsanitary conditions he is experiencing during his journey to the Jamestown colony in 1607.

[REVEREND ROBERT HUNT] Late 30s, Caucasian, Male. Seriously ill during the harsh journey by ship to Jamestown in 1607, this humble Anglican priest from South England has teeth that reflect years of poor dental care.  Facial hair is desirable.

[ENGLISH SETTLER HUSBAND] 40s, Caucasian, Male.  This Jamestown settler relates the troubles he and his family has endured in the new colony in the 1680s.

[ENGLISH SETTLER WIFE] Age 25 – 30, Caucasian, Female.  Surrounded by her husband and children, this Jamestown settler discusses the hardships she has endured living in the colony in the 1680s.  Actor must be comfortable with wearing a costume so as to appear pregnant.
