international museum short film – casting complete

**CASTING COMPLETE**

Arvold is searching for Hebrew speaking actors for an international museum short film. Those based in the New York or Toronto area are especially encouraged to submit.

Cortina Productions, a company specializing in creating audio-visual media and interactive experiences for museums, will be shooting this short, historical film the last week of October 2016 aboard an early 1900’s passenger steamship.  There are many roles to be filled. Please see below for complete details and submission instructions.

SEEKING THE FOLLOWING PRINCIPAL HEBREW SPEAKING ROLES:

[MIRIAM] Late teens – early 20’s, Female.  As a passenger, Miriam took care of the children aboard the refugee ship. She was a writer and journaled her experience of the ship’s journey. Able to speak in both English and Hebrew, as well as be comfortable working aboard a ship on water for extended periods of time.

[MORDECAI ROSMAN] 20’s – 30’s, Male, Blonde. Originally from Poland, Rosman was a natural leader. He led people to safety in the woods in Poland after they lost the battle within the Warsaw ghettos. He became a leader amongst fellow refugees aboard the steamship and spoke on behalf of his fellow refugees in powerful and emotional speeches. As the refugee ship came into harbor, Rosman was standing on the exterior of the hole in the ship, wearing ragged trousers rolled above his ankles and a torn shirt. Rosman was considered a legend in France. Able to speak in both English and Hebrew, as well as comfortable working aboard a ship on water for extended periods of time.

[BILL BERNSTEIN] 20s, Male. An American crewman with red hair. Smiling and sensitive, he was recognized as the most popular man in the crew. He had a great sense of humor and  entertained the crew with little shows, impersonating Harpo Marx, using a mop for hair. He journeyed aboard the refugee ship out of a sense of adventure. He was killed in the battle aboard the ship when he was hit in the left temple with a club (or ax) in the wheelhouse. Able to speak in both English and Hebrew, as well as comfortable working aboard a ship on water for extended periods of time.

[YOSSI HAREL] Late 20s, Male. A large, impressive man, Harel had experience leading refugee missions.  As Commander of the refugee ship, he was concerned with the wellbeing and safety of the refugees. His role included establishing policy, giving inspirational speeches and keeping people informed.  Able to speak in both English and Hebrew, as well as comfortable working aboard a ship on water for extended periods of time.

[YOUNG REFUGEE WOMEN] (Multiple roles to be filled) Late teens – early 30s, Female. Refugees from Eastern Europe in 1947 with Eastern European features and accents, including, but not limited to, Polish, Hungarian, Austrian, German, or Russian. Thin, but not emaciated. Able to speak in both English and Hebrew, as well as comfortable working aboard a ship on water for extended periods of time.

[YOUNG REFUGEE MEN] (Multiple roles to be filled)  Late teens, early 30s, Male. Refugees from Eastern Europe in 1947 with Eastern European features and accents, including, but not limited to, Polish, Hungarian, Austrian, German, or Russian. Thin, but not emaciated. Able to speak in both English and Hebrew, as well as comfortable working aboard a ship on water for extended periods of time.

[AMERICAN CREWMEN] (Multiple roles to be filled)  Late teens – early 30s, Male. American crewmen who served aboard a passenger steamship carrying Eastern European refugees in 1947. Actors should appear fit and determined to fulfill their duties as crewmen. Able to speak in both English and Hebrew, as well as comfortable working aboard a ship on water for extended periods of time.
